Maintenance & Mehr Recovery Lawyer in Karachi
Family Court claims for wife and child maintenance, unpaid dower and return of dowry articles.

In brief
A wife and children are entitled to maintenance, and mehr (dower) recorded in the nikahnama is a binding financial right of the wife. Claims for these, as well as dowry articles, can be brought in the Family Court under the West Pakistan Family Courts Act 1964.
We help you prove the claim, and we also defend husbands or fathers against inflated or unfounded claims. Once decreed, we pursue execution to get the order enforced.
Wives and children claiming financial support, and husbands responding to such claims.
How we can assist
- Wife and child maintenance suits
- Recovery of dower (mehr)
- Recovery of dowry articles
- Interim maintenance applications
- Execution of Family Court decrees
When clients come to us
- A husband has stopped providing support
- Mehr remains unpaid after divorce
- Dowry articles were kept by the in-laws
- A decree exists but has not been paid
How the matter moves
A suit is filed with the supporting documents, followed by pre-trial conciliation. The court can set interim maintenance. Evidence is recorded, a decree follows, and execution proceedings may then be used to recover the amount if payment is not made.
Papers to keep ready
- Nikahnama showing the dower
- Children's birth certificates
- Evidence of expenses and the husband's income
- List and receipts of dowry articles
Questions clients ask
Can maintenance be claimed for past periods?
Past maintenance can often be claimed, subject to the law and the evidence. We review your dates and circumstances.
Does divorce end mehr?
No. Unpaid dower remains payable, and it is commonly claimed after divorce or as part of a family suit.
What if he has no declared income?
The court considers all available evidence of means and lifestyle, not just a salary slip.
