In brief
Many rent disputes begin with a vague agreement copied from an old template. A well-drafted agreement sets out the rent, annual increase, security deposit, repairs, utility bills, permitted use, notice period and how the premises are handed back.
We draft new agreements and review drafts you have been given, for both homes and commercial premises, and we advise on stamp paper and registration.
Owners, tenants, businesses renting premises and overseas Pakistanis letting out property in Karachi.

When clients come to us
- You are renting out property for the first time
- A commercial landlord has given you a one-sided draft
- An existing tenancy needs renewing on new terms

Questions clients ask
Should a rent agreement be on stamp paper?
Yes, it should be on appropriately stamped paper, and depending on the term, registration may be required or advisable. We confirm what applies to your agreement.
Should the owner be checked before signing?
Yes. Tenants should see ownership documents, or a valid authority if someone else is letting the property on the owner's behalf.
Can the security deposit terms be negotiated?
Yes. The agreement should say how much the deposit is, what can be deducted, and when it must be returned.
