Inheritance & Property Lawyer in Karachi
Securing inherited shares, partition, women's inheritance rights and transfer to legal heirs.

In brief
Inheritance disputes often arise when one relative controls the family's property. For Muslims, shares are fixed by Islamic personal law, and section 4 of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961 protects children of a predeceased child. Other communities are governed by their own personal law.
We calculate shares, try negotiated family settlements where possible, and file partition or other suits where they fail. We also challenge relinquishments obtained through pressure, which are a common way women are denied their shares.
Heirs, especially women and overseas relatives, who are being denied or are unsure of their shares.
How we can assist
- Share calculation and legal advice
- Partition and administration suits
- Challenges to forged or pressured transfers
- Family settlement deeds
- Transfer of property to legal heirs
When clients come to us
- A brother has refused to give his sisters their shares
- Property has been transferred right after a death
- Heirs abroad cannot get a clear account of the assets
- A family wants to divide property without a dispute
How the matter moves
We identify the heirs and the estate and calculate each share. A legal notice or a family settlement may resolve the matter. If not, a suit is filed, with an application to protect the property, and the court may order partition or sale with division.
Papers to keep ready
- Death certificate and family tree
- Property documents in the deceased's name
- CNICs of heirs
- Any gift, settlement or sale documents
Questions clients ask
Can sisters be made to give up their share?
A woman's share is her legal right. Courts look closely at claimed relinquishments, and documents obtained by pressure can be challenged.
Is there a time limit for an inheritance claim?
The issue of limitation in inheritance is fact-sensitive and courts have treated it in particular ways, so seek advice without delay.
Can a parent gift the property to one child?
A valid gift by the owner during their lifetime may be possible, but it must meet legal requirements, and it can be challenged if they were not met.
